Rekeying changes the inside of your lock so the old keys no longer work, while the lock itself stays on the door. It is the fastest and most affordable way to take back control of who can get into your home.
What’s included
- New pin configuration with fresh keys cut on site
- Multiple locks keyed alike so one key opens every door
- Front, back, garage-entry and apartment doors
- Most major lock brands supported
- Often completed in a single short visit
What to expect
When you rekey a lock, we remove the cylinder, replace the internal pins to match a new key, and reassemble it. The hardware, finish and look of your door do not change, but every old copy of the key becomes useless. That is why rekeying is the standard answer after moving into a new home, ending a roommate or tenant agreement, or losing a set of keys.
If your lock is worn, damaged or very low quality, we will tell you plainly when a lock change makes more sense than rekeying. Our goal is to recommend the option that actually protects you, not the one that costs the most.

Lock Rekey Service FAQs
What is the difference between rekeying and changing a lock?
Rekeying changes only the internal pins so a new key is required. A lock change replaces the whole lock. Rekeying is cheaper and quicker when the hardware is in good shape.
Can you make all my doors work with one key?
In most cases, yes. We can key your front, back and other doors alike so you carry a single key.
Should I rekey after moving into a new home?
We recommend it. You cannot know how many copies of the old keys exist, and rekeying is an inexpensive way to be sure only you have access.
